Jubilee Ford Tractor and Mr Boggany

About two weeks ago one of my neighbors Mr Boggany asked me if I could fix his tractor which is a 1950s Ford Naa Jubilee Farm Tractor. He just recently told me he bought the tractor from a man he was working for shortly after he graduated from high school which was in the 60s.

When Mr Boggany asked me to fix his tractor the hydraulic pump was not working due to a leak. After a quick look at the situation I figured that the fix should be rather easy since I plan that the gasket seal was out and it would be a uncomplicated process of getting a new one and putting it in.

Well I got the pump off with a small number of endeavor and managed to take it apart. In my haste, and I might add I have never worked on tractors before, when I got the pump opened up and found the qoute to be just what I had plan it was.

Difficulties started when I went to buy a 2 dollar gasket. When I went to the tractor supply they told me they only had a rebuild kit which was about 50 dollars. I only needed the 2 dollar gasket so I went home to get on the internet to see if I could find the part somewhere else plus I toyed with the idea of using a liquid gasket but realized that would be a very bad choice.

Also as I was cleaning the pump up to put back together I found I was missing one of the springs which somehow popped off when I was taking it apart. Now my task was made more difficult because now I need to find the spring or get a new one.

After some searching on the internet for tractor parts I found a kit that had all I needed to fix and rebuild the pump. After a few tense moments I was able to get the pump back together and on the tractor.

I held my breath as Mr Boggany started up the tractor and raised the hydraulic lift. I was joyous to see all working well and the fix was successful.

Mr Boggany has been cleaning up my back pasture and stacking up all the old tree branches and fallen logs. You can see a photograph of him on his tractor in action.

The Ford Naa "Golden Jubilee" was released as part of the 50th anniversary of Ford. The 1953 version had a extra nose badge noting the anniversary.

As you can see this tractor looks very similar to Mr Boggany's Tractor.

I can tell that Mr Boggany dearly loves his tractor and he even told me he would get me a key so I could drive it around if I felt like taking a ride along my fence line. The beyond doubt cool thing is, it is just so great to see how well made the old tractor is and how much Mr Boggany loves it.

If you have some great neighbors it might be worthwhile to get to know them and enjoy the uncomplicated things of life.

My back pasture used to be overgrown with weeds and briars but since Mr Boggany and his tractor; well you can see the results.

Health wise some of the best things you can do are to feel good and enjoy your surroundings. Be sure to use a bit of your time everyday to smile and be grateful for the many blessings in your life. Who knows you may find another Mr Boggany and his Tractor!

Have a family Outing at the every year Czech Festival

Wilson, Kansas is the Czech capital of Kansas. Every year this small town has a local festival called the Czech Festival. Population from all colse to the United States drive hundreds of miles to attend it and this small town multiplies in a matter of hours. In 2010 we will celebrate our 50th every year Czech Festival.

This Festival is the last Friday and Saturday in July, every year. The activities start Friday in the evening and strike for home until Saturday evening. The Czech Festival Parade is the largest small town parade. Entry for this parade is very simple. Some floats in this parade include; floats promoting activities while the Czech Festival, local company floats, high school floats and the crisis reserved supply floats. Also, the parade includes many nice, old cars, most of them are locally owned. Whatever who is a Czech descendant can enter in the Czech Queen Pageant. The candidates ride on floats in the parade and the winner is announced on Saturday. Also on Saturday, a tractor pull is held. The winner and runner-up have a opening to go to the state fair to compete.

All weekend long vendors set up food, crafts, and merchandise you can buy at the Czech Festivals' Flea Market. Some items you can buy include; T-shirts, hats, quilts, personalized car tags, toys, games, etc. The Beer organery is set up down the block from the Flea Market. Here you can socialize and kick back in the shade while you throw down a cold one and enjoy some live music. The Czech Festival Carnival for kids is on the road behind the Flea Market. The carnival includes many fun rides for children of all ages! colse to the angle from the Beer organery a petting zoo is set up also for the kids. The Flea Market, Beer Garden, carnival and petting zoo go on both days while the Czech Festival.

Throughout these two days there are various sporting tournaments, including; Volleyball, Horseshoes, and Softball for the kids and adults. So everybody can sign up and enjoy the fun. Saturday after the parade, there is a car show. Whatever with an awesome car can enter into this. Also, an old time band plays polka music all weekend at numerous places. Another fun thing to do while at the Czech Festival is watch the Czech dancers and the talent show. The Czech dancers dance right before the talent show. Persons of any age can sign up to accomplish in the talent show. Prizes are determined and awarded to the someone with the most talent.

Last but not least for teenagers the Czech Festival has a teen dance with a Dj in the Stop Ii Shop parking lot. Glow sticks are sold and everybody boogies. They don't forget about the adults either. They have a polka dance and an old rock band playing in the Opera House. Numerous times Freddy Fox and The Hot Rods have played at the Czech Festival. It is always fun for everyone.

So if you don't know what you're doing the last weekend of July, come to Wilson, Kansas to enjoy the Czech Festival. The Wilson Lake is 5 miles away to provide a cool refreshing dip, fishing, camping, boating and many other water activities and sports. Don't miss out on the fun.
